Although I am a qualified accountant, I have always been interested in well-being. Over the past 7 years, going through a divorce and menopause and experiencing the empty nest, I went on my own journey to transform my life, and wish to do the same for others. I registered a company in 2014 to start a holistic approach to helping women navigate menopause.
However, it took a long time and a lot of research to take the plunge and invest in my dream of helping others to take their life journeys in whatever shape or form they wanted to.
My research involved visiting Beauty and Aesthetic shows/conferences, different approaches available to me, understanding the financial viability of the industry for a newbie, deciding how good I would be at dealing with people all day instead of staring at a computer screen all day, or hitting impossible deadlines……….. and decided to take the plunge in March 2016 where I began my Practical training at Sally Durant Aesthetic Education & Training and have never regretted it. I started practising aesthetic work with the public in December 2016, and still do it part time as I finish conversion to the CIBTAC Level 4 later this year (2017).
It has not been easy – it has been a whole new world for me to get to grips with. Dealing with people, diagnosing skin conditions and planning correction regimes, ensuring safety standards are met, data protection compliance, designing legal customer forms, registering with regulatory bodies and taking out licenses, ensuring full knowledge of the skin and products, the effects of the products are to name but a few obstacles to overcome. Learning about marketing, websites, google ads, twitter, Facebook, how to sell without looking like you are selling, new research, keeping abreast of product developments are all new challenges every day…. But I embrace and love them!!! I now intend to have a fully-fledged business by June 2018 that does not require support from any accounting revenues. I am still deciding on the shape of this and the offerings I will have, and deciding where I fit in the market – not a MediClinic, not a Beauty Salon, but one thing I am sure of – my world will never be the same again, and my life’s journey will impact on many people in the future where I help them to Transform their skin inside and out and their attitude to approaching life.Although I am a qualified accountant, I have always been interested in well-being.
